Smirk sets are riddled with exuberance and multifarious tastes. Brandon Wolcott grew up in California and later Hong Kong, where he attended his first rave in 1997 (during the historic handover of the city back to China), before settling in Brooklyn. With a background in theatrical sound design, he’s able to traverse techno, house, cheeky edits, vocals, and jazz/classical inflections with impish ease. Smirk has performed in Belgrade, Berlin, Boulder and many places in between. Following releases on Wolf + Lamb, his debut full-length “Even Beauty Gets Old” came out on Pheek’s Archipel imprint.
《 It is the aural sound of 'Theoretically pure anterograde amnesia' a condition where it's impossible to remember new events. 》
— Leyland Kirby.
Jordan Vauvert
My god, what an absolutely incredible Suite. I'll admit, I've struggled to get into Pharoah Sanders due to diving headfirst into some of his most challenging catalogue and that never worked. This is the perfect place to restart. Floating Points is new for me and I can honestly say I've never heard synthesizer music this lush and organic before. the LSO is just perfect. This is one of those albums that any serious music fan needs in their life. The perfect swan song for the great Pharaoh! 5/5 ClassyMusicSnob
